2007 - 2008 Audubon Field Trips

  Field Trips normally start from the parking lot behind Rowe Hall off East Campus Drive on the CMU campus. Other meeting points are described below. Car-pooling encouraged. If possible, call to let the leader know to expect you and for any last minute information.

Description
   Sept 15th   Bird-banding at Vestaburg Bog. Mike bishop will help us explore the bog and share his bird-banding with us. The chance to not only see, but to hold these birds will be a special experience for all of us, but especially for kids. Gary Kramer(772-5089). Meet at 8 a.m. Rowe Hall, CMU.
  Sept 29th   Michigan Mushroom, Join the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club for a mushroom foray and potluck at Nethercutt Woods. Activities begin with a walk at 10 a.m., then on to the lodge to identify what was found. Bring a dish to share at the potluck beginning at noon. Sister Marie Kopin (772-9453) is our contact.
  Dec 16th   55th Annual Winter Bird Count.  Stan Lilley (644-8766), coordinator.Tally hosted by Bob & Elaine Connell at time to be announced.
  April 19th   Houghton Lake. Look for ducks, geese and other early arrivals around Houghton Lake. Meet Jim Dealing (772-0269) at 8 a.m. at Rowe Hall. Optional restaurant lunch follows.
  April 26th   Spring Wildflowers, Mike LeValley will show us the wildflowers of Mt Pleasant's Chip-a-Waters and Mission Creek Parks. Meet Mike (433-0395) at 8 am at Chip-a-Waters Park. Kids welcome!
  May 10&11   48th Annual Spring Bird Count. with Bill and Dottie Theunissen (773-7294), coordinators. Tally on Sunday at 8 p.m.
  May 17th   Mt. Pleasant Bird Walk with Jim Dealing (772-0269). Search for the migrants and residents of Mill Pond & Chip-a-waters Parks. Meet at 8 a.m. at Rowe Hall.
  June 7th   Finding Reptiles and Amphibians at Forest Hill Nature Center with Dave DeGraaf.. Explore the nature center in search of amphibians and reptiles. A great trip for kids. Meet Mike LeValley at 8:30 am, at Rowe Hall, CMU.
  July 8th   Meridian Park Wildflower Walk. Kathy Murray (773-3170) will lead a walk to see the wildflowers at Meridian. Meet at the top of the parking lot just south of Broomfield Rd., on the east side of Meridian Rd., at 9 a.m. Adults only, please.
  July 21st   Summer Wildflower Outing at Meridian Park. Meet Cathy Murray (773-3170), at 10 a.m., at the Meridian Park parking area to look for summer wildflowers. Kids welcome!

Ad Hoc Outings: Occasional and spontaneous outings as well as irregular chases after visiting rare birds.
