| January 13, 2004 | At 12:30 PM on Tuesday, 1/13/04, there were two adult Bald Eagles feeding on a deer carcass 2 miles north of Weidman. The carcass is in a field at the southwest corner of the intersection of Woodruff and Vernon Roads, about 80 yards off the road. For those who may not be familiar with the area, Woodruff is the main north-south road running through Weidman. Drive about 2 miles north of the town center to the intersection with Vernon Road. Keep your eyes peeled for other birds there too. There was a dark-morph Rough-legged Hawk on the ground not far from the carcass waiting for a turn. The area along Woodruff from Denver to Vernon Roads has been the location of at least two Northern Shrikes within the past week. | |
